Tous (Ferdowsi) Combined Cycle Power Plant has achieved 100% electricity production during both day and night peaks over a period of more than a month and a half.
According to a monitoring report by the Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, the plant maintained this level of production from June 4 to July 21, 2024.
In addition to Ferdowsi, Sarv Combined Cycle Power Plant in Yazd Province and Shobad Power Plant in Kerman Province also reached 100% production during this period.
Tous (Ferdowsi) Gas Power Plant comprises six gas units, each with a capacity of 159 MW under ISO conditions. The plant utilizes V94.2 version type 5 gas turbines and includes a 400 kV substation.
It is located 15 km from Mashhad, along the road to Quchan, near the old Tous power plant.
The power plant has been built based on an energy conversion agreement (ECA) and in the form of build, own and operate (BOO) between MAPNA Tous Power Generation Company (on behalf of MAPNA) and Thermal Power Plants Holding Company.
According to the contract, the Ministry of Energy is required to give back the amount of liquid fuel (or the equivalent value in cash) that is saved by turning the plant into a combined cycle one to the investor. The Ministry of Energy has up to two years to do this and up to the limit of the investment.
The scope of the combined cycle project includes the installation of three E-type steam turbines and generators with a nominal capacity of 160 MW, six HRSGs, three ACC cooling system units, BOP (balance of plant), and a 400-kV substation. Two of the three steam units are now running with the third one being under construction.
