Shahrud Thermal Power Plant includes two gas-fired units each with a capacity of 162 MWs (overall: 324 units) at ISO conditions. The power plant runs on two V94.2 gas turbines manufactured by MAPNA, based on the company’s NIAM (MAPNA Standard Design for Power Plants) scheme.
The power plant is located 15 kilometers west of Shahrud, on the road to Damghan and next to the 230-kv substation. Both units have received provisional acceptance certificate (PAC).
Thermal Power Plants Holding Company is the owner and client of this project and Ghods Niroo Consulting Engineers Company serves as the consultant. Contractor of the project was MAPNA Power Plants Construction & Development Company.
The executive operation was initiated by MAPNA Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD-1) on February 3, 2010. The first unit was synchronized to the grid on July 8, 2011.
Twenty-two subcontractors carried out operation at the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phase.
Engineering, procurement and construction of the 230-kV substation was carried out by the client.
The project was unique since no defects were identified by the client after provisional delivery of the power plant. In 2013, MD-1 handed over executive affairs and took up the management contracting responsibilities.
