MAPNA Group Receives PAC for 9th Gas Unit of Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant

MAPNA Group received a provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) for the 9th gas unit of Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant which is located in Iraq.

MAPNA Group received a provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) for the 9th gas unit of Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant which is located in Iraq.

The PAC was issued on September 25 and accordingly, the gas unit was provisionally delivered to Shamara Holding, the client of the project.

With a capacity of 3,156 MWs, Rumaila Power Plant comprises 12 gas-fired units as well as six E-type steam units. The plant is located in Rumaila, in the vicinity of Basra, southern Iraq. Shamara Holding is the client of the project and Germany’s Fichtner Group serves as the client’s consultant. This is the biggest international project of MAPNA Group.

MAPNA Group is responsible for the design, procurement, transportation, installation, and commissioning of the plant in addition to supervising its four phases of the civil construction operation. Shamara Holding Group has been charged with the plant’s civil construction operation and implementation of steel structures except for the sections of the boiler and ACC.

The main equipment of the 3000-MW power plant including MGT-70 gas turbine, E-type steam turbine, and HRSG (without supplementary firing) has been produced by subsidiaries of MAPNA Group.

Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant Project

Phase 1 of the power plant includes the construction of six gas-fired units which run on MGT-70(3) turbines. The initial efficiency of Phase 1 simple cycles stands at 34.6 percent. The figure will reach 36 percent one year after the provisional delivery.

Phase 2 of the project includes construction of three E-type steam cycles, HRSGs (without supplementary firing), ACC cooling system, and BOP (balance of plant).

Phase 3 of the project includes the construction of six gas-fired units running on MGT-70(3) turbines. The initial efficiency of Phase 3 simple cycles stands at 34.6 percent. The figure will reach 36 percent one year after the provisional delivery.

Phase four of the project includes construction of three E-type steam cycles, HRSGs (without supplementary firing), ACC cooling system, and BOP (balance of plant).

MAPNA Combined Cycle Power Plants Construction and Development Company (MD-2) is carrying out Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant project as the representative of MAPNA Group.
