MAPNA Group’s Strategic Role in National Infrastructure Emphasized in High-Level Meeting

In a high-level meeting between senior officials from Iran’s Inspection Organization and MAPNA Group, the strategic importance of this knowledge-based industrial conglomerate in the electricity, water, and gas infrastructure sectors was examined.

During the discussions, held on Monday, July 29, 2023, the status of MAPNA Group’s major projects and the energy economy were reviewed from various perspectives.

Sattar Shirali, the Inspection Organization’s deputy head in economic affairs, expressed the organization’s support for MAPNA’s activities, highlighting the conglomerate’s crucial role in developing the country’s infrastructure.

“The government’s view of MAPNA Group is strategic because it has been instrumental in vital industries such as electricity, water, oil, and gas,” he said.

MAPNA managers reported that the group employs 27,500 people through 75 subsidiary companies, with its employment network, including contractors and suppliers, extending to over 200,000 people.

Shirali further emphasized the organization’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by MAPNA Group in the electricity sector. This includes collecting receivables from completed projects, obtaining tax and bank clearances, and completing unfinished projects in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and related organizations.

He acknowledged the measures taken by MAPNA Group to develop technology and improve transparency in the economy and capital market.

Shirali also called for the expedited transfer of Saba Power and Water Industries Investment Company, the main shareholder of MAPNA Group, to the capital market. Furthermore, he issued directives for his colleagues to facilitate the collection of MAPNA’s claims from beneficiaries, ensure tax clearances, reconcile the conglomerate’s claims from the government, and address challenges in the development of renewable electricity production.
