Health in MAPNA

Physical and mental health have always been critical issues, and investing in such fields is one of the top corporate social responsibilities (CSR) that leading industrial companies must adhere to.

MAPNA Group established the MAPNA Healthcare Company (MHC) with the cooperation of the Iranian Ministry of Health in 2016, not only as a business strategy, but also as an ethical obligation toward social well-being.

MHC designs and manufactures medical equipment such as CT Scanners, MRIs, and angiography machines

The company’s initial mission was to analyze and transfer knowledge for the development of the latest medical equipment. It has now obtained the know-how to manufacture the much-needed medical tools inside the country, with a focus on the localization of advanced medical equipment under the MAPNA brand.

MAPNA Healthcare Company has so far inked deals with 30 top Iranian universities of medical sciences (that, by law, administer public hospitals) to equip 182 affiliated hospitals with medical equipment.

MHC has equipped 34 hospitals with imaging equipment, pledging to supply the remaining centers with their demands within a five-year plan, based on the priorities announced by the Health Ministry.

Services

While MHC is the MAPNA Group’s main medical division, other MAPNA subsidiaries have pledged to provide full support to the healthcare system in their respective fields, including oxygen concentrator support and other services related to the electronics and telecommunications of CT Scanning and other medical devices.

Teleradiology

The geographical and population disparities that hamper the timely access to medical equipment have also become a major challenge for physicians and patients. To handle the issue, MAPNA has introduced a “teleradiology network”, which is a high-speed, powerful network capable of rendering data and tightly coupling information from the real and the virtual world. Despite the growing trend of installing medical equipment in smaller cities, radiologists are often concentrated in large cities; that means long waits for patients to receive the results of medical imaging reports. The MAPNA teleradiology network helps transmit radiological images, such as x-rays, CTs, and MRIs, from one location to another in no time.

Proper transfer speed and high accuracy of images are other distinguishing features of this network. The high quality of the images of MAPNA teleradiology is such that medical images can be viewed and examined on ordinary televisions. MAPNA Healthcare Company controls the network’s performance via real-time live monitoring.

Managing Large Medical Imaging Centers

The MAPNA Group’s healthcare division explores the development of services in imaging centers to address healthcare concerns, relying on domestic specialists and professionals.

MHC has supplied Rasoul Akram Hospital in Tehran with a variety of imaging equipment. The hospital has a 1.5 Tesla MRI, a 16-slice CT Scanner, a 4-slice CT Scanner, three fixed and 10 mobile radiography machines, a digital fluoroscopy device, a bone grafting machine, and six modern ultrasound devices, as well as 60 employees, including physicians and nurses.

Firoozgar Hospital in Tehran has a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, a 16-slice CT Scanner, a 6-slice CT Scanner, mammography equipment, digital fluoroscopy, a bone grafting machine, and seven modern ultrasound machines, as well as 70 employees. The hospital admits an average of 12,000 patients every month at a government-subsidized fee.

Angiography instruments, 1.5 Tesla MRI, 16-slice CT Scanner, advanced ultrasound devices, digital and portable radiography devices are all available at Shahid Rajaei Hospital in Kraj, Alborz Province. The hospital, which employs about 60 personnel across all medical and administrative departments, serves an average of 10,000 patients every month at government-approved tariffs.

Imam Ali Hospital in Karaj is equipped with CT Scanners, as well as digital radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, sonography and compression machines. The hospital admits an average of 6,000 patients per month at with government tariffs.

Products

Medical equipment and facilities are critical to the protection of human lives and, as a result, the growth of countries. The acquisition of such equipment necessitates careful planning and funding. This comprises a comprehensive corporate approach to medical equipment management, directed by a responsible lead, to ensure that appropriate equipment is available and fit-for-purpose, as needed for the delivery of high-quality clinical services.

MAPNA has established a long-term plan to finally materialize the localization of medical equipment; in the first phase, the Group has provided the grounds for procuring the necessary equipment and facilities; next comes the expansion of medical technology and knowhow to manufacture the much-needed equipment, such as CT scans and radiology devices, inside the country. The Group has already embarked on localizing several tools and devices, including oxygen concentrators.

Localization of Medical Equipment

MAPNA Group is currently supplying medical imaging equipment to Iran’s University of Medical Sciences and other leading medical universities such as Shahid Beheshti, Mashhad, Lorestan, Kurdistan, Shiraz, and Sabzevar. The Group has purchased a big quantity of equipment in order to lower the finished costs for its clients. After-sales and maintenance services are also provided by the conglomerate.

MAPNA Healthcare Company seeks to localize the design and manufacture of medical equipment with the help of domestic experts, and is now taking steps to grow its activity in this field by obtaining up-to-date expertise.

MHC’s primary goal is to produce medical equipment, transfer knowledge and technology and provide imaging services with government tariffs in less-developed areas. Between 2017 and 2019, the company supplied 22 CT scanners, seven MRI machines, eight angiography equipment, and 15 ultrasound machines to Iranian hospitals.
