Pantograph Chargers for E-Buses

Project Specifications

MAPNA Group unveiled a state-of-the-art pantograph charger in 2021, with various options of 150, 300, 450, and 600 kilowatts. The charger can deliver a maximum current of 900 amperes and a maximum output voltage of 600 kilowatts (920 volts).

This technology is only possessed by five major technology companies in the world, and Iran has joined this elite group by developing it through MAPNA Electric & Control Engineering & Manufacturing Company (MECO).

One of the main benefits of this charging method for buses is that it allows the pantograph to be installed on the charging tower instead of the bus, reducing the weight and cost of the electric bus. Moreover, the electric bus can easily locate its position relative to the charging tower using the WIFI antenna. This charging method is more efficient than other fast charging methods for buses.

MECO has also equipped its laboratory with advanced dynamometers, HIL systems, and other devices. This has made the laboratory one of the largest and most advanced specialized laboratories in the country. It will serve as the necessary foundation for indigenizing and developing light and heavy electric vehicle propulsion technology in Iran.
