Damavand Combined Cycle Power Plant(PAKDASHT MARTYRS)

Project Specifications

Damavand Combined Cycle Power Plant (which is also known as Pakdasht Martyrs Power Plant) is the biggest power plant in the country comprising 12 gas units, each with a capacity of 159.9 MW, and  six steam units each with a capacity of 160 MW at ISO conditions. At this power plant which produces a total of about 2880 MW of power, V94.2 gas turbines (manufactured by MAPNA Turbine Engineering & Manufacturing Co – TUGA- under the license of Ansaldo Energia Company of Italy) and the E Type steam turbines (E30-16-1-1×6.3) have been used.

Damavand Power Plant has been erected on an area of 193 hectares of land in southeast Tehran, 35 km from Garmsar. According to the contract, the power plant has been constructed in two sections of main equipment and BOP.

The main equipment of the first section has been designed and financed by Ansaldo Energia Company of Italy with the assistance of domestic contractors. The common (general) section has been designed and procured merely by domestic contractors.

Iran Power Development Company (IPDC) is the client, Ghods Niroo Consulting Engineers Company is the client consultant and MAPNA MD-1 and MAPNA MD-2 Companies are the main contractors. The power produced at this plant is transferred to the nationwide network through a 400 kV station.

Gas and gas oil are the fuel needed by Damavand Power Plant: gas is the main fuel and gas oil is the substitute fuel.  Construction of the gas section of the plant started on 9 October 2001 and all its gas units were delivered to the client provisionally by 2006 and permanently by 2007.

Construction of the steam units started on 24 April 2006 and the first steam unit was commissioned in 2009. The remaining gas (steam)???? units of the plant were synchronized by mid-2012.
