MAPNA and Siemens officials will sign an agreement today in order to transfer F-class turbines.
The event, to be attended by Iran’s Minister of Power Hamid Chitchian and German Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel, will be held in Berlin on Wednesday March 2, 2016.
Additional agreements are also to be signed between MAPNA CEO Abbas Aliabadi and his counterpart in Siemens Joe Kaeser, who last month became the first chief executive of the company to visit Iran.
The agreement to acquire F-class SGT5-4000F turbine technology is part of the broader strategy of Iran’s power sector to optimize power plants’ efficiency.
MAPNA subsidiaries Turbine Engineering and Manufacturing Company (TUGA) and Turbine Blade Company (PARTO) will be in charge of manufacturing SGT5-4000F after the negotiation is finalized.
Considered one of the best in its class, SGT5-4000F has a generation capacity of 307 MW and an efficiency rate of 40.1 percent. Used in a combined cycle power plant, it can help to achieve an efficiency rate of 59 percent.
