MAPNA Group Receives PAC for 12th Gas Unit of Rumaila Power Plant

MAPNA Group received a provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) for the 12th gas unit of Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant, located in Iraq.

The PAC was issued on October 19 and accordingly, the gas unit was provisionally delivered to Shamara Holding, the client of the project.

With provisional delivery of this unit, MAPNA Combined Cycle Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD-2) has now received PAC for 120 units with an aggregate capacity of 18,804 MW.

The latest delivery comes about a month after the conglomerate  synchronized the last gas unit of Phase 3 and the final steam unit of Phase 2 of the combined cycle power plant with Iraq’s national grid on September 19 and September 26, 2024, respectively.

In total, 15 out of 18 contracted units in the Iraqi power plant have been synchronized, achieving 75% physical progress and producing 2,676 MW, which is 85% of the total 3,156 MW capacity.

According to the plan, the remaining three steam units will be operational and synchronized by 2026, bringing the plant to its nominal capacity of 3,156 MW.

The mega project of constructing the Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant is located 45 kilometers from Basra in Iraq and 100 kilometers from the Shalamcheh border. The Rumaila power plant consists of four phases, comprising six 526 MW blocks, with a total nominal capacity of 3,156 MW under ISO conditions.

The project, as MAPNA Group’s largest technical and engineering services export contract, has significantly increased Iraq’s electricity capacity. It is MAPNA Group’s third project in the Arab country, following the Al-Haidariya and Al-Sadr projects, creating job opportunities for specialists and technicians from both Iran and Iraq.
