The Bidboland Persian Gulf Gas Refining Company has formalized an agreement with a consortium led
by MAPNA Group to expand the power generation capacity of its facility located near Behbahan in
Khuzestan Province, Iran.
This contract encompasses the installation of two additional MGT-40 gas turbine units, following a prior
agreement in mid-2023 for the deployment of a single MGT-40 unit.
The MGT-40 is a gas turbine developed by MAPNA Group, featuring an axial 17-stage compressor and a
three-stage turbine, designed for both power generation and mechanical drive applications. It delivers a
gross output power of 42.2 MW.
The consortium includes MAPNA International and MAPNA Combined Cycle Power Plants Construction
& Development Company (MD-2).
The project is slated for completion within 21 months.
The Bidboland Persian Gulf Gas Refinery, inaugurated in January 2021, represents a significant
investment of $3.4 billion. It processes associated gas from crude oil production, contributing to
environmental conservation by reducing gas flaring. The refinery plays a crucial role in supplying
feedstock to petrochemical plants and providing sweet gas for domestic consumption.
