MAPNA Group Advances Energy Efficiency Initiatives, Highlights Collaboration with Industries

Mohammad Owliya, President of MAPNA Group, emphasized the importance of energy efficiency, expressing the conglomerate’s readiness to cooperate with industries.

Speaking on the sidelines of a local conference on Wednesday in Tehran, Owliya lauded a recent national campaign launched by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian for saving energy.

He highlighted that a significant portion of industries and society have embraced the initiative, demonstrating that energy waste can be curbed without disrupting public comfort.

“MAPNA, recognizing the critical issue of energy imbalance, launched an internal project a year ago. As a result, by March 2024, we have successfully reduced our energy consumption by a total of 40%,” Owliya stated.

He underscored the substantial impact such measures can have for MAPNA, a large industrial conglomerate with extensive factories and facilities.

Investment in Energy Efficiency

Addressing MAPNA’s investment efforts in energy efficiency, Owliya acknowledged financial challenges, including liquidity and receivables. “Despite these obstacles, MAPNA has executed major projects in this area. However, further large-scale investments require collaboration and financial partnerships,” he explained.

Owliya stressed that MAPNA remains a key player in addressing national energy imbalances and wastage. “In the residential sector alone, energy consumption can be reduced by approximately 30-35% using relatively simple and cost-effective methods,” he noted.

High-Efficiency F-Class Power Plants

Highlighting MAPNA’s contributions to power generation, Owliya pointed out that five percent of the national grid’s power comes from high-efficiency F-Class power units.

He emphasized MAPNA’s commitment to ensuring the reliable performance of these advanced units.

“The successful operation of F-Class units relies on continuous technical support and maintenance tailored to the specific turbine type and contractual frameworks,” Owliya explained.

He reassured users of MAPNA’s capability to expand F-Class power plants, enhance maintenance technologies, and develop new high-efficiency combined cycle power plants.

Owliya also highlighted MAPNA’s cooperation with key industries, such as Mobarakeh Steel Company, to ensure a stable energy supply. “As one of the largest players in the industrial sector, Mobarakeh Steel requires reliable energy to maintain production. Self-sufficient power plants are one effective solution,” he said.

He said that MAPNA currently has contracts totaling approximately 6,000 megawatts with major industries. “Industries can rely on MAPNA for future upgrades of E-Class units, achieving efficiency rates of up to 55%, and for the development of localized F-Class units with efficiency rates reaching 59%,” Owliya noted.
