Kerman Combined Cycle Power Plant
Project Specifications
Kerman Combined Cycle Power Plant has eight gas units comprising six V94.2 Ansaldo (Italy) units plus two development gas units (from the credits provided by the Islamic Development Bank), each with a capacity of 159.9 MW (total capacity of 1.270 MW in the gas section) and four TUGA E Type steam units each with a capacity of 160 MW. Thus, the total capacity of the power plant is 1912 MW at ISO conditions.
The power plant is located 3 km from Baghein on the road to Rafsanjan on an area of 120 hectares of land in Baghein district. The main equipment of the power plant in gas section has been procured by Ansaldo (Italy) and the BOP by domestic manufacturers under the management of MAPNA and carried out by domestic contractors.
In the gas section of this project, Iran Power Development Company (IPDC) is the client, Ghods Niroo Consulting Engineers Company is the client consultant and MAPNA MD-1 Company is the contractor.
In the steam section, Iran Power Development Company (IPDC) is the client; Mashanir Company is the client consultant and MAPNA MD-2 Company is the contractor.
The water needed by the power plant is supplied from a well near the plant and the consumed fuel (gas and gas oil) is supplied by pipelines of the National Iranian Oil Company or oil tankers.
The electricity produced by Kerman Combined Cycle Power Plant is transmitted to the nationwide network through a 230 kV substation.
The construction operations in the gas section of the project started on 1 November 1999 and all gas units were synchronized by 2001 and all units were permanently delivered by 2005. Meantime, with regards to the expansion of the power plant and its conversion into a combined cycle, construction operations of its gas units started on 23 July 2005 and all gas units were handed over to the client provisionally by 13 December 2010.
At present all gas units of Kerman Combined Cycle Power Plant have been delivered permanently and all its steam units handed over provisionally.
