MAPNA Group Signs Contract for Metro Car Bodies, Bogies with Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company

MAPNA Mobility has signed a contract with Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company to supply 42 metro car bodies and 84 metro bogies.

This contract aims to expand the Tehran metro fleet, with the MAPNA Mobility division fully managing the project.

The production of bogies will be handled by MAPNA Locomotive Engineering and Manufacturing Company, while the car bodies will be produced by MAPNA Wagon Pars.

MAPNA Locomotive Engineering and Manufacturing Company, the primary entity in MAPNA’s rail division, was established in 2007. It began with the large-scale project of producing 150 Iran Safir locomotives under a Siemens license. Starting production in July 2010, the company operates on a 160,000-square-meter site with an annual capacity of 120 locomotives and rail vehicles. The facility includes workshops for bogies, bodies, painting, assembly, and testing.

The company specializes in developing technology for designing and manufacturing traction equipment for rail transport in the country. The company collaborates with international and domestic industry leaders to attract, maintain, develop, and enhance technical knowledge in the design and manufacture of traction equipment for the rail transport industry.

Wagon Pars Company (WPCO), founded in 1974, began producing rolling stock in 1984, establishing itself as a leading manufacturer in the Middle East. Headquartered in Tehran with a factory in Arak, the company spans 354,000 square meters and employs 1,250 people. It is connected to the national rail network via 33 kilometers of rail tracks. Acquired by MAPNA Group in December 2020, WPCO uses advanced technology to produce freight wagons, passenger cars, subway cars, trains, locomotives, and bogies. WPCO collaborates with international brands like Alstom, Siemens, and Bombardier, and has manufactured over 2,000 wagons and bogies for export to countries including Cuba, Sudan, Syria, Bangladesh, and China. The company prioritizes research and development to innovate and meet customer needs, offering a wide range of products such as freight and passenger locomotives, trainset wagons, subway cars, passenger coaches, restaurant coaches, and various freight wagons.
