Khorramabad Combined Cycle Power Plant started operation on Thursday, May 28th, 2019.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by MAPNA President Abbas Aliabadi, CEO of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company Mohsen Tarztalab, Governor of Lorestan Province Mousa Khademi, and executives involved in the project. “MAPNA Group has acquired the knowhow to manufacture advanced, complicated power plant equipment today” said MAPNA President Abbas Aliabadi in his speech at the inauguration ceremony.
“MAPNA Group will synchronize the the steam portion of the power plant to the national grid by next year, which will bring about positive environmental impact and help reduce fuel consumption,” he promised.
CEO of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPHC) was another speaker of the inauguration ceremony.
Tarztalab, head of the Power Ministry subsidiary, also expressed hope that the steam portion of Khorramabad power plant, the largest of its kind in the western province of Lorestan, will start operation next year to optimize efficiency of the power generation complex.
“MAPNA and Thermal Power Plants Holding Company are drawing up a memorandum of understanding to start construction of the second phase of the power plant,” Tarztalab announced.
Pointing to TPPHC’s future plans to launch an F-class power plant in Lorestan Province, Tarztalab expressed hope that hurdles in water supply would be removed to speed up construction of Khorramabad Combined Cycle Power Plant.
“With operation of Khorramabad Power Plant, Lorestan Province power generation balance will tip towards the positive, and the province can even supply power for neighboring provinces,” he added.
Tarztalab stressed the need to increase speed of construction of Khorramabad power plant to achieve fuel saving and efficiency boost.
Khorramabad Combined Cycle Power Plant Project
Located 10 kilometers from the city of Khorramabad, center of Lorestan Province in western Iran, the combined cycle power plant comprises two gas-fired units (162 MWs each) and one 160-MW steam cycle, totalling 484 megawatts. The power plant is equipped with E-type gas and steam turbines manufactured by MAPNA Turbine Engineering and Manufacturing Company (TUGA), HRSG and supplementary firing manufactured by MAPNA Boiler and Equipment Engineering and Manufacturing Company, power and control system developed by MAPNA Electric & Control Engineering & Manufacturing Company (MECO), ACC cooling system, and 230-kv substation.
Khorramabad Power Generation Company is the client of the project. Matin Energy Development Company serves as MC, and Moshanir is the project supervisor and consultant.
