MAPNA Group officially commenced the construction operation of a 546-megawatt combined-cycle power plant dubbed ‘Andimeshk-3’, in southwestern Khuzestan Province, on Friday May 19.
Andimeshk-3 power plant will be built on a 50-hectare area near the city of Andimeshk, under an EPC scheme by a consortium consisting of MAPNA Group, MAPNA International F.Z.E, and MAPNA Special Projects Construction & Development Company (MD-3). MD-3 is the main executor of the project.
The project includes the design, manufacturing, and supply of equipment, as well as the transportation of equipment to the site, installation, testing and commissioning of two gas turbine generator units (MGT70 V3) each with a capacity of 183 MW and a steam turbine unit with a nominal capacity of 180 MW at ISO conditions.
The main equipment of the power plant including turbines, generators, boilers, cooling and control systems is being manufactured by MAPNA Group factories.
The 546MW combined-cycle block will be equipped with two Class-E MGT-70 heavy-duty gas turbines, two waste heat recovery boilers with a total capacity of 290 tons per hour, one steam unit equipped with an MST-54C turbine, and one ACC cooling system unit. The facility will also be equipped with MAPNA’s unique automation & process control system dubbed “MAPCS”.
Upon completion, the gas and steam units of the power plant will be immediately connected to the 400 kV national power grid by three power transformers through a direct substation.
Taraz Pey Riz (TPR), a civil construction holding company, is the client of the project and Niroo Consulting Engineers Company serves as the consultant.
The project comes as part of MAPNA’s efforts to improve Iran’s aging power infrastructure and boost the country’s electricity generation.
With installed power production capacity of 84,500 MW, Iran meets almost 80% of its electricity demand from aging thermal plants operating for decades.
