MAPNA Group has delivered its first batch of MAP24 locomotives to Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC).

MAPNA delivered its homegrown locomotives to MSC on Sunday March 13, 2022, as part of a contract to supply 50 MAP24 freight locomotives to the giant steelmaker.

MAPNA Group President Abbas Aliabadi noted MAPNA Group is obliged to deliver the locomotives to Mobarakeh Steel Company within two years.

Aliabadi added that over 90% of the 3,300hp MAP24 locomotives have been designed and produced by the domestic experts.

MAP24-1 locomotive, designed and manufactured by MAPNA Locomotive Engineering and Manufacturing Company (MLC), is equipped with a turbocharged 16-cylinders diesel engine, 3300 HP nominal power, therefore it is considered a diesel-electric locomotive. The driver’s desk has been designed and manufactured based on best ergonomic conditions in order to provide much more facilities and comfortability for locomotive’s driver.

MAPNA Group has divided the design and production stages of the locomotive into five main sections and several sub-sections across its factories to accelerate the production process. These five main sections include design and production of the chassis and car body of the locomotive, the bogies, the power and control system, the power transmission system, and the braking system.
