On May 5, 2025, MAPNA Special Projects Construction and Development Company (MD-3) successfully completed the installation of the 18th inverter at the Aftab-e-Shargh Solar Power Plant, bringing the operational capacity to 120 megawatts.
The Aftab-e-Sharq Solar Power Plant project is being developed on a 1,200-hectare site, 15 kilometers along the Kouhpayeh–Isfahan road.
The project is owned by SINA Energy and Clean Industries Company (SENAP), a subsidiary of Mobarakeh Steel Company. When fully completed, the plant will have a total capacity of 600 megawatts, divided into five zones of 120 megawatts each.
Construction milestones from the first phase include excavation of 74,000 cubic meters of earth, installation of 181,830 solar panels, 1,050 kilometers of cabling, and the setup of 4,450 tons of structural steel.
- Several key records were achieved during the development of the first 120-megawatt segment:
- Synchronization of 11 MVTS units just 15 days after delivery to the site
- Installation of 60 megawatts’ worth of structures and panels within two months
- Simultaneous work by three contractors, with peak manpower reaching 724 in March
- Installation of 693 piles in a single day, setting a piling record
- Setup of 63 mounting tables (equal to 3.4 MW) and 3,876 panels (equal to 2.7 MW) in a single day
Mobarakeh Steel Company’s initiative to build the largest centralized solar power plant in Iran reflects a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible energy practices.
The first phase of the solar farm, with a capacity of 20 megawatts, was synchronized with the national grid in October 2024.
The solar farm is being developed by a consortium led by MD-3 and MAPNA Renewable Energies Generation Company.
