MAPNA Group was host to Burundi Minister of External Relations and International Cooperation Alain Aime Nyamitwe on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
Nyamitwe, who was leading a delegation of diplomatic and energy officials, took a tour of MAPNA’s Turbine Engineering and Manufacturing Company (TUGA), and MAPNA Generator Engineering and Manufacturing Company (PARS) in Karaj, forty kilometers west of Tehran.
MAPNA’s activities fields of power, oil & gas, and rail transportation were briefly presented in TUGA, before the Burundian delegation embarked on a tour of the factory to become acquainted with the process of gas and steam turbine production.
The Burundian delegation visited PARS Company in the second leg of its tour, where it observed how generators and wind turbine blades were manufactured by Iranian engineers.
The visit ended with luncheon hosted by PARS company.
This is the first visit by a senior Burundian official to Iran. Foreign Minister Nyamitwe, who leaves Iran on Wednesday August 17, 2016, has also held meetings with Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Javad Zarif during his stay.
Located in central Africa, Burundi is a landlocked country with a population of more than 11 million. Only 6.5% of the country have access to electricity according to 2015 statistics released by World Bank.
