Heading a delegation, the senior official visited the factory of MAPNA Turbine Engineering and Manufacturing Company (TUGA), gaining insight into the latest capabilities and achievements of the conglomerate.
The event, held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, was attended by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Iran, representing the Minister of Energy as the head of the two countries’ economic commission.
Following a documentary presentation showcasing MAPNA’s achievements, MAPNA Group President Mohammad Owliya welcomed the guests and introduced the conglomerate’s operations in the fields of power, oil and gas, rail, and electrification.
Prime Minister Rasulzoda expressed his delight at visiting MAPNA Group, stating, “It is a great honor for us to be present in this industrial complex.”
He praised the strong and positive relations between Tajikistan and Iran, highlighting that during the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Tajikistan, multiple cooperation agreements were signed between the two nations. Among these agreements was the mutual visa exemption, which he noted could significantly enhance economic relations between the two countries.
He further said, “We rely on foreign suppliers to meet some of our country’s electricity needs, but in certain cases, we have not been fully satisfied with their services. After thorough assessments, it is evident that MAPNA has the capability to play a significant role in Tajikistan’s industrial sectors.”
Rasulzoda instructed the Industry Minister of Tajikistan to establish a committee to explore ways to enhance collaboration with MAPNA Group and report on the findings.
Emphasizing the advanced technological capabilities of MAPNA, Rasulzoda stated, “We are ready to expand our cooperation with this conglomerate across all industrial sectors.”
He also noted that a considerable number of factories in Tajikistan currently operate with joint investments from Iranian companies and expressed hope that with MAPNA’s involvement, energy and transportation projects in the country would experience further development.
Owliya, in turn, highlighted Tajikistan’s potential for developing gas fields, saying, “MAPNA Group is capable of participating in the construction of power plants as well as gas and transportation projects in Tajikistan.”
He noted that MAPNA Group is prepared to collaborate with both public and private sectors in Tajikistan to establish and expand joint industries in power generation, transportation, and oil and gas.
He also pointed to MAPNA’s capability to export products such as locomotives and passenger and freight wagons to Tajikistan, adding, “Currently, at least 10 percent of the equipment manufactured in MAPNA Group’s factories is exported to other countries.”
Addressing the Tajik officials, Owliya assured them, “I guarantee that all exports of energy and transportation equipment, as well as technical and engineering services from MAPNA Group, including those from TUGA, will be fully backed with comprehensive guarantees.”
Several senior executives of MAPNA Group and reporters were also present at the meeting.
