MAPNA, INDONESIA ENERGY OFFICIALS MEET IN TEHRAN

On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, MAPNA Group officials hosted senior Indonesian energy officials in Tehran. The Indonesian delegation, which included His Excellency Ignasius Jonan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, and His Honorables Sofyan Basir, President Director of Indonesia’s state electricity company (PLN), and Dwi Soetjipto, President Director & CEO of state oil & gas company PT Pertamina, were hosted by MAPNA President Abbas Aliabadi and senior MAPNA officials in a working lunch ceremony in Tehran.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, MAPNA Group officials hosted senior Indonesian energy officials in Tehran. The Indonesian delegation, which included His Excellency Ignasius Jonan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, and His Honorables Sofyan Basir, President Director of Indonesia’s state electricity company (PLN), and Dwi Soetjipto, President Director & CEO of state oil & gas company PT Pertamina, were hosted by MAPNA President Abbas Aliabadi and senior MAPNA officials in a working lunch ceremony in Tehran.

The energy group visiting Iran is part of a high-ranking delegation from Republic of Indonesia, led by President Joko Widodo “Jokowi”. President of MAPNA Dr. Abbas Aliabadi welcomed the Indonesian delegation to Tehran. Aliabadi expressed MAPNA Group’s interest to be present in the Indonesian market and collaborate as a strategic partner of the country through construction and investment projects in the conglomerate’s main fields of activity including power, oil & gas, and transportation. A presentation of MAPNA Group’s history, fields of activity, and products was delivered next by Mr. Khalil Behbahani, CEO of MAPNA Investment Division.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources welcomed MAPNA’s willingness to enter the Indonesian market, pointing to the group’s successful overhaul project in the Belawan Power Plant. Mr. Jonan indicated investment as a potential field of collaboration between MAPNA and power companies in this Southeast Asian country. Under President Jokowi, Indonesia has initiated an ambitious plan to add 35 thousand megawatts to its current electrical capacity of 44 thousand megawatts to meet increasing demands of its growing economy.

As Iran’s largest power company, MAPNA has extended its business overseas in the recent years. The company is currently constructing the 3000 MW Rumaila Power Plant in Najaf, southern Iraq. This is not the first time MAPNA has been host to officials from Indonesia. Ambassador Octaviano Alimuddin visited MAPNA factories on July 24th this year. MAPNA also held a tour of its facilities for Indonesian media in September 2015.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. Jonan who entered Iran late on Monday night will also hold meetings with Iran’s Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh. RI President Joko Widodo entered Tehran on Tuesday afternoon. He will be visiting a number of senior Iranian officials including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani and Speaker of the Parliament Ali Larijani.
