MAPNA HOLDS 9TH HSE CONFERENCE

On Thursday, December 8, 2016, MAPNA Group held its ninth health, safety and environment conference in Tehran, Iran.

The 9th MAPNA HSE conference, focusing on the theme “Incidents, and Staff’s Responsibilities” hosted senior managers and HSE experts of the group’s 41 subsidiaries in Eram Hotel, northern Tehran.

More than 450 MAPNA members attended the event, to discuss and learn about fundamentals of HSE practices and ways to entrench the HSE culture in one of Iran’s largest industrial companies.

Hooman Nasrollahi Shirazi, System and Quality VP of MAPNA, was the first keynote speaker of the conference. Shirazi gave an account of the history of MAPNA HSE conferences, from the first edition that kicked off in 2006 to the latest edition held in 2014. “HSE in MAPNA has recorded significant improvement and is now a strong suit of the company” Nasrollahi noted.

Tehran University professor Aryan Gholipour was the second speaker of the conference. Gholipour, a prolific author in the field of HSE, spoke on the importance of raising the status of health, safety, and environment practices in industrial organizations. He praised MAPNA for its publication of a code of ethics booklet, and stressing qualities such as honesty, accountability, and safety. “Acknowledgment and implementation of ethical teachings in business will eventually increase profits for companies” he said.

Mahdi Omidvar, HSE head of MAPNA Special Projects Construction & Development Co. (MD-3), was the third speaker of the event. Omidvar related his company’s successful HSE experiences, particularly those with regard to working at heights. Omidvar’s presentation was followed by that of Shahram Mahmoudi, HSE manager in Systems and Quality division, who presented facts and figures on MAPNA’s HSE profile in the Persian year 1394 (March 21, 2015- March, 21 2016). “A downward trend in HSE incidents has been visible in 2009-2015 period in MAPNA” he said.

MAPNA subsidiaries Neyrperse, MAPNA Drilling Company, MAPNA Turbine Blade Engineering and Manufacturing Company (PARTO), and Nasb Niroo received awards for their performance and improvement in HSE sector in the final episode of the event.
