MAPNA Group President Abbas Aliabadi referred to some of the achievements of the conglomerate in the past Iranian calendar year while also clarifying objectives for this year.

A gathering of MAPNA group employees and managers was held on April 10 in Tehran on the occasion of the new Iranian year which started on March 21, 2023.

Addressing the event, Aliabadi briefly reviewed the achievements of MAPNA Group in various fields in the Iranian calendar year 1401 (March 2022 – March 2023).

First of all, he referred to the launching of a portable system for testing commercial aircraft engines by the conglomerate which was done for the first time in Iran and in the Middle East and also the repairing of passenger aircraft engines.

“This is truly a major project which was carried out by MAPNA engineers and demonstrated that we enjoy major capacities because we have dominance over such sophisticated products that we can change its parts or improve them,” he said.

He then hailed Wagon Pars Company (WPCO) as it managed to hit its yearly nominal capacity with some two months remaining to the end of the year. “After many years, we managed to arrive at the nominal capacity of the company which is 1,000 wagons in the month of Bahman [January-February] and bring the number to 1,100 by the yearend,” he said. WPCO was acquired by MAPNA Group in late 2020.

MAPNA Group has produced 50 locomotives under its contract with Esfahan Mobarakeh Steel Company and is ahead of its timetable, he said, noting that the conglomerate is ready to produce and deliver 100 locomotives every year.

He then pointed to some of the awards that MAPNA Group won last year, including the top Iranian contractor and distinguished exporter.

The power section was the next field that Aliabad referred to. He noted that MAPNA Group’s share in the capacity of Iran’s power plants has surpassed 75%. The conglomerate also has the fourth rank in the world market share of gas turbines and the second rank for best boiler producers in the world according to McCoy Power Reports, he said.

The conglomerate broke a record last year by synchronizing 34 units, the CEO said.

He also pointed to some of the measures implemented in the area of oil and gas, including activities in Khangiran and Danan oil fields as well as supplying advanced equipment for phase 14 of South Pars gas field.

Referring to the 30th anniversary of MAPNA Group’s establishment, which will be marked in a few months, Aliabadi said that “the stability and development of MAPNA Group in the past three decades is a source of honor.”

“MAPNA Group started the path as a body for solving problems and this path will lead to the creation of the future.” Elsewhere, he pointed to some of the objectives and strategies of the conglomerate including moving toward innovative and new businesses, working on Power-to-X, giving priority to B2B and B2C businesses, selling electricity to generate wealth, and expanding exports, especially to countries that have suitable capacities in Latin America and in the Middle East.
