MAPNA Group is set to equip Dokouheh Combined-Cycle Power Plant in southwestern Khuzestan Province with an advanced domestically-manufactured transformer.
The new equipment, which has been manufactured by Arya Transfo Company upon MAPNA’s commission, is a step-up transformer with a capacity of 385 megavolt-ampere (MVA) and a voltage of 245/20 kV.
It is the largest domestically-built step-up transformer equipped with oil directed air forced (ODAF) cooling system.
Step-up transformers increase the voltage from primary to secondary (more secondary winding turns than primary winding turns).
Other key features of the new transformer include the special winding design (based on international standards), lower power loss, higher efficiency and lower price compared to similar foreign models.
The transformer’s construction operation was completed on Tuesday, April 13. The equipment successfully passed all routine and type tests and complies with all the criteria under the International Standard IEC 60076.
The manufacture of the new step-up transformer is part of MAPNA Group’s strategy to localize power plant products with the support of domestic industries.
The device will be set up at the gas unit of Dokouheh Combined Cycle Power Plant, which is equipped with MAPNA’s Class-F turbines.
It will be used to convert the low voltage electricity generated at the facility into high voltage for transmission to the national grid.
Located near the city of Andimeshk, on the 15th kilometer of Karkheh Dam Road, Khuzestan Province, Dokouheh Combined Cycle Power Plant comprises a single gas turbine with a capacity of 307 MWs, a triple-pressure HRSG (heat recovery system generator), a steam portion with a capacity of 141 MWs, and an air-cooling system.
