An increase in total output was registered following the installation of the wet compression cooling system on gas units of Mahshahr Power Plant by MAPNA Group.
The system works by cooling the inlet air flow to gas turbines and this is done by injecting water into the entrance of the compressor.
The decreased temperature leads to increased output capacity.
Among the advantages of this cooling system is that it has a good efficiency in areas that have high humidity.
Located 9 kilometers north of Mahshahr on Jarrahi (Chamran) road, Mahshahr power plant includes four gas-fired units each with a capacity of 162 MWs that use V94.2 gas turbines.
The new cooling system has so far been installed on units one and two of the power plant, resulting in an addition of 15 MWs to each of the units’ output.
The cooling system is also set to be set up on the two remaining units.
With the installation of the cooling system in all units of Mahshahr and Pareh Sar power plants, a total of 90 MWs will be added to the country’s grid.
It is expected that the system will be welcomed in other power plants across the country.
Ramin Power Generation Company was the client of the project which was implemented through the cooperation of MAPNA Turbine Engineering and Manufacturing Company, MAPNA Electric & Control Engineering & Manufacturing Company (MECO), MAPNA Operation & Maintenance Company, Monenco Iran Consulting Engineers, and MAPNA Boiler Engineering and Manufacturing Company.
