MAPNA Kicks Off Overhaul of Tehran’s Oldest Metro Line

MAPNA Group has started overhaul and renovation of Tehran Metro Line V, Iran’s oldest metro route.

MAPNA Group has started overhaul and renovation of Tehran Metro Line V, Iran’s oldest metro route.

Operations have started with installation of overhead conveyor system equipment in Mehrshahr Terminal, Karaj, 50 kilometers west of Tehran.

The project is part of a contract between Tehran Urban & Suburban Railway Operation Company and MAPNA Railway Construction and Development Company.

Drilling, stabilization of embankments, subsurface water drainage, reinforcement, and concreting operations are carried out across Line 5 which started operation in 1998.

The scope of the project includes procurement and installation of contact and messenger wires and fittings, localization of fittings, optimization of components, preparation of technical data sheets, control of mold and component manufacturing process, and expansion of Mehrshahr Terminal depot capacity.

Plans for extension of Line V are underway with construction of Hashtgerd terminal. Future developments include lowering the line’s headway.

This is the first rehabilitation project MAPNA Railway Construction and Development Company carries out on an active rail route.
