Khorramabad Power Plant:‌ MAPNA Synchronizes First Gas Unit of Second Block

The first gas unit of the second block at Khorramabad Combined Cycle Power Plant was synchronized with the national grid.

MAPNA Group successfully synchronized the first gas-fired unit of the second block at Khorramabad Combined Cycle Power Plant with Iran’s national power grid on June 26, 2025, marking another step in efforts to ensure stable energy supply across the country.

This project has been developed to address power shortages and enhance energy reliability in Iran. It is financed by Khorramabad Power Generation Company, with MAPNA Group acting as the main contractor.

The implementation has been led by MAPNA Combined Cycle Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD-2), with significant support from MAPNA’s manufacturing divisions.

With the synchronization of this latest unit, MD-2 has now brought a total of 128 power units online across the country, contributing a cumulative 20,196 megawatts to Iran’s electricity generation capacity.

The power plant is located 10 kilometers from the city of Khorramabad, the center of Lorestan Province in western Iran.

The second block of the plant comprises two gas turbines, each with a capacity of 183 megawatts, and one steam turbine rated at 180 megawatts.

Beyond meeting electricity demand, the project is expected to contribute to regional development by generating employment, enhancing local technical capacity, and strengthening the economic and social infrastructure of Lorestan Province. The power generated will support industries and small businesses in the region, helping drive local growth.
