MAPNA, Kerman Municipality Sign MoU to Construct Tramway

MAPNA Group and Kerman Municipality have signed a memorandum of understanding to construct a tram system in Kerman, southeastern Iran.

MAPNA Group and Kerman Municipality have signed a memorandum of understanding to construct a tram system in Kerman, southeastern Iran.
The MoU was signed on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, between Kerman mayor Mehran Alemzadeh and Ahmad Khodaei, CEO of MAPNA Group Rail Division.
MAPNA will carry out the project under an EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) scheme.
The tramway will be constructed according to the latest safety standards and state-of-the-art technologies.
A feasibility study will be carried out before the final agreement is signed between MAPNA Group and Kerman Municipality for construction of the tram system.
Upon completion, the tramway can handle more than one million passengers per year. The new transportation mode is expected to facilitate commuting and foster tourism in the historical city of Kerman.
