MAPNA’s Railway Construction & Development Company was selected as the winner of the tender to finish the trackwork project for the Baharestan–Isfahan metro line.

After scoring highest technically and offering the most competitive bid, the company was formally awarded the contract. The agreement was signed soon after, land for the works was handed over, and the project directive was issued on September 20.

The Baharestan–Isfahan metro line is among five proposed suburban lines serving greater Isfahan. The line will run about 14 km from the terminus of Metro Line 1 and include five stations — three within Isfahan and two in Baharestan city.

Under this contract, MAPNA will build 14,100 m of track structure, of which 9,700 m lies in tunnels, 4,400 m in open cuts, and install three 190R crossover switches.

The project’s client is the Baharestan New Town Development Company, and its advisor is the consulting firm Hegza. The initial contract sum is about 7,000 billion rial (roughly 6.8 million USD) and the duration is set at 18 months.

This milestone marks a strategic step in MAPNA’s rail sector development. It is the firm’s first undertaking of concrete trackwork on a metro line and further strengthens its value-chain integration in rail infrastructure projects.

MAPNA Group is active across the rail transport industry. Through its rail division, it offers design, engineering, procurement, operations, and investment services for urban rail systems, locomotives, and rail infrastructure. Its companies include MAPNA Railway Construction & Development (MRC), which handles metro, monorail, signalling, electrification, and secondary services.

The conglomerate has also been awarded tenders to supply metro rolling stock, including 60 light rail vehicles for Mashhad Metro Line 1. Additionally, MAPNA’s Wagon Pars subsidiary is a leading Iranian rolling stock and locomotive manufacturer.

Baharestan is a planned city about 20 km southeast of Isfahan in Isfahan Province, central Iran. According to the 2016 census, it has around 79,000 residents. The city’s location along the Isfahan–Shiraz road and its proximity to Isfahan make it significant in regional urban planning and transport development.

By linking Baharestan to Isfahan via metro, the project aims to ease commuting and support the city’s integration into the metropolitan area.
