MAPNA Unveils Freight Locomotive

The unveiling ceremony was held on the sidelines of the 7th International Rail Transportation Expo in Tehran, and attended by a number of senior officials including Minister of Roads & Urban Development Mohammad Eslami. “MAP24 is a fully homegrown Iranian locomotive” said Hossein Ghomashi, CEO of MAPNA Locomotive Engineering & Manufacturing Company (MLC), whose company was in charge of manufacturing the rail vehivle.
“We are ready to export MAP24 to other countries,” he added.
MLC CEO reminded that the locomotive’s main components, including its control system, bogie, braking system, frame, and body had been manufactured in the company’s manufacturing facilities. “The locomotive’s traction has also been reinforced,” he added. 
Forty MAP24 Units to Be on Rail by Early 2020
President of the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran (RAI) welcomed the launch of MAPNA Group’s new locomotive. Saeid Rasouli expressed hope that MAPNA Group’s new freight locomotives would reinforce Iran’s domestic capabilities in rail sector.
Rasouli added that six units of MAP24 were already on the rail, while two others were at the trial stage.
RAI President expressed hope that MAPNA Group would manufacture and commission 40 units of the new freight locomotive by the end of the current Iranian year (late March 2020).

Minister of Roads & Urban Development Mohammad Eslami also praised the quality of MAPNA Group’s new rail product during the unveiling ceremony. “MAP24 is internationally competitive in terms of quality, efficiency, and price,” Eslami said.
Eslami expressed hope that agreements with MAPNA Group would come into effect in near future.
