MAPNA Group took over the land for the plant on July 12, 2012, and construction commenced on August 4 of the same year. Through the collective efforts of MAPNA Group experts, the plant was synchronized in May 2015. It is located on the Najaf-Karbala road, adjacent to the Najaf refinery at the 25th kilometer mark.
To transmit the generated electricity, a 132 kV substation was established, and MAPNA Group undertook the responsibility for constructing it as a turnkey executive contractor (EPC).
