The “Hengam Charging station” sits on a 4,000-square-meter site and is equipped with eight 240-kilowatt chargers alongside sixteen dual-output 120-kilowatt dispensers. The station enables the simultaneous charging of 16 electric buses. The operational daily capacity can be increased to 48 electric buses through a scheduling system. In addition, the station can charge 32 electric taxis or light vehicles at once, recharging a total of 384 light vehicles daily.
MAPNA Electric & Control, Engineering & Manufacturing Company (MECO) implemented the project while MAPNA Railway Construction and Development Company was responsible for the installation, commissioning, substation construction and construction activities.
With a nominal capacity of two megawatts, the “Hengam Charging Station” is designed to strengthen electric mobility infrastructure and facilitate the operation of urban and intercity electric fleets. Its design meets the needs of both heavy and light transportation fleet in tandem. Also, it enables load-shifting and optimization of electricity consumption through smart energy management systems across the grid.
The launch of this station would reduce charging wait times, improve operational efficiency of the electric fleet, and accelerate the transition from combustion-engine to electric vehicles.
Moreover, this facility can serve as an energy hub within the city network, providing services to public transport companies, electric taxi operators, private fleets, and organizations responsible for urban transportation in the capital Tehran.
