MAPNA Receives FAC for Third Steam Unit of Rumaila CCPP

MAPNA Group has successfully obtained the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) for the third steam unit of the Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant in Iraq which is the fifteenth unit of this plant.

The Rumaila CCPP project commenced in 2016, leveraging the technical expertise and capabilities of MAPNA Group and its subsidiary, MAPNA Thermal Power Plants Development Company (MD-2), in the field of power plant project management. This mega project is located 45 kilometers from Basra in Iraq and 100 kilometers from the Shalamcheh border.

The Rumaila power plant consists of four phases, comprising six 526 MW blocks, with a total nominal capacity of 3,156 MW under ISO conditions. The project utilized the maximum capacity of MAPNA Group subsidiary companies. This includes the design, equipment supply, installation, and commissioning phases.

The project, as MAPNA Group’s largest technical and engineering services export contract, has significantly increased Iraq’s electricity capacity. It is MAPNA Group’s third project in the Arab country, following the Al-Haidariya and Al-Sadr projects, creating approximately 2000 job opportunities for specialists and technicians from both Iran and Iraq.

Phase 1 and 3 of this plant includes six MAP2B gas units and common facilities each. Phase 2 and 4 consists of three E-type steam units each. These are equipped with Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) and Air-Cooled Condenser (ACC) systems.

With the permanent delivery of this unit, MAPNA Thermal Power Plants Development Company (MD-2) achieved a new record. The total number of power plant units permanently delivered by MD-2 has now reached 135 units. These units have a combined capacity of 21,174 MW.
