MAPNA Synchronizes 2nd Unit of Rey Medium-Scale Power Plant with National Grid

MAPNA Group synchronized the second unit of Rey medium-scale power plant with the national grid on May 27, 2026.

MAPNA Group played a central role in the project of Rey Power Plant by advancing energy infrastructure, enhancing power generation efficiency, and localizing power plant equipment.

The Rey MGT-40 power plant is the first fully Iranian medium-scale power plant, designed and built with the goal of strengthening distributed generation, improving grid reliability, and leveraging the domestic technical and engineering expertise of MAPNA.

Similar to the first unit of the project, the second unit is also a commercial unit of MAPNA Group. The equipment including turbines and generators were manufactured by MAPNA subsidiaries. The project was commissioned and synchronized with MAPNA Automation and Process Control System (MAPCS).

The project comprises of three 42-megawatt units with a total capacity of 126 megawatts in Baqershar, Rey. The commissioning and synchronization of this gas unit, brings the total number of synchronized units by MAPNA Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD-1) to 167 with a cumulative capacity of 22,775 megawatts.

With the launch of the first unit in Rey, and based on an average household consumption pattern of 300 kilowatts, the plant’s output can serve the electricity needs of more than 90,000 households.
