MAPNA Synchronizes Gas Unit of Khatoon Abad Medium-Scale Power Plant with National Grid

The gas unit of Khatoon Abad Medium-Scale Power Plant was successfully synchronized with the national grid on Monday, May 25, 2026.a

This Unit represents the first MGT40 unit under MAPNA Group contracts with the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO). It operates on diesel fuel and was commissioned to increase power generation capacity and enhance the stability of the national grid.  The successful synchronization of this unit of Khatoon Abad Medium-Scale Power Plant marks a significant step toward development of power generation infrastructure and improving the reliability of power generation in Iran.

This project is located at Shahrbabak Copper Complex. MAPNA Group subsidiary, Nasb Niroo Company (NNC), has been the consultant of the project.

The commissioning and synchronization of this gas unit, brings the total number of synchronized units by MAPNA Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD-1) to 166 with a cumulative capacity of 22,733 megawatts. Also, based on the average consumption pattern of 300 kW per household, the new capacity with benefit over 90,000 households.
