MAPNA Group’s Statement Regarding Report Published by “Alhurra”

MAPNA Group issues the following statement in response to a report published by Alhurra concerning the activities of some Iranian companies in Iraq and references made therein to MAPNA Group.

MAPNA Group categorically and unequivocally rejects the statements, allegations, references, and implications contained in this report about it as baseless. These claims lack professional accuracy, are factually incorrect and harm the commercial, professional and corporate reputation of MAPNA.

As one of the largest and most recognized industrial, energy and infrastructure groups in the Middle East region, since its establishment, MAPNA Group has always kept its activities exclusively within the scope of its defined professional, industrial, and economic missions. Its operations are focused on thermal and combined cycle power plants, desalination plants, rail transportation, as well as oil and gas industry projects. Consequently, any attempt to associate MAPNA Group’s activities with unrelated matters including allegations concerning military entities or conduct inconsistent with international laws and regulations is completely unfounded, unacceptable and devoid of any legal basis.

MAPNA Group’s presence and operation in the Iraqi energy market, just like all of its international business activities, has been carried out within the framework of official, transparent, and lawful contracts with the goal of supporting the host country’s infrastructure and energy needs. All engagements and projects of MAPNA Group in Iraq have been conducted through established commercial and contractual channels, with authorized parties, and in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internationally recognized practices governing the energy industry.

Accordingly, the publication of the above-mentioned factually inaccurate report constitutes a clear violation of the fundamental principles of journalism including fact-checking, impartiality, diligence in attributing information, and the avoidance of making uncorroborated allegations against MAPNA Group.

MAPNA Group formally requests that Alhurra promptly remove the inaccurate, unsubstantiated and reputation-damaging sections of the published report. Alternatively, MAPNA requests that its official response be published in full, transparent, and without alteration on the same media platform.
