The 12th International Energy Exhibition (KISHENEX) was held in the Persian Gulf island of Kish on 11-14 January 2016. The exhibition aimed to promote investment, encourage competition between domestic and international companies and enhance production quality. MAPNA participated in the exhibition in an effort to display its latest achievements.

More than 160 Iranian companies and 35 foreign corporations took part in the exhibition. This is the first time in ten years that international companies directly participate in KISHENEX. The Oil Ministry has recently unveiled its new contract schemes called Iran Petroleum Contracts (IPC) in a bid to attract foreign investors towards Iran’s oil and gas sector.

Deputy Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh was a keynote speaker of the inauguration ceremony. Hamaneh called the goal of the exhibition turning Iran into a key global energy player. “Vast oil and gas resources can … cement Iran’s position in the lucrative global energy market” he said. Hamaneh added that optimal utilization of the private sector’s capacities in oil and gas can speed up economic growth.

Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization Ali-Akbar Salehi also sent a message for the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition. Addressing “the new chapter” in Iran’s relations with the international community, Salehi called for a proactive attitude to define Iran’s role in the future of global energy ties.
