MAPNA Adds 183 MW to Grid by Synchronizing Gas Unit in S Iran

The first gas unit of Al-Mahdi Combined Cycle Power Plant, with a capacity of 183 MW, was successfully synchronized to the national grid on November 26, 2023, by MAPNA Group.

The power plant, located in Hormozgan Province, south of Iran, will have a total capacity of 546 MW when fully operational.

The synchronization of this unit marks the completion of the 51st power plant unit by MAPNA Special Projects Construction & Development Company (MD-3), a subsidiary of MAPNA Group.

This unit also features a home-made generator start-up system, which is the first of its kind in Iran.

MAPNA Group experts overcame technical challenges and achieved the synchronization in just 14 months, setting a new record for the implementation of Class E gas units.
