MAPNA Group has completed the drilling, testing, and injection of gas in sixth and seventh wells of the Shurijeh D Gas Reservoir in northeast Iran.
The project, which aims to store and produce natural gas for the country’s northern and northeastern regions, is led by a consortium of MAPNA subsidiaries and contracted by the Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC).
The project, led by Neyr Perse, involves the development of 20 wells in the Shurijeh D Reservoir, which is located 25 km from Sarakhs city and near the Turkmenistan border.
The reservoir is expected to inject and produce 2.250 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, with injection rates of 10 million cubic meters per day during the warmer months and production rates of 20 million cubic meters per day during the colder months.
The MAPNA Drilling Company is in charge of the drilling operations, which have been completed for seven wells so far.
The project is now moving to the next phase, which includes the relocation of the drilling rig to start drilling the ninth and tenth wells in the Khangiran gas field, a source of natural gas in the area.
The project is part of the Iranian Oil Ministry’s plan to develop the storage facilities of the Shurijeh Reservoir, which is the main feedstock supplier of the Khangiran Refinery in the Sarakhs Region of Khorasan Razavi Province. The plan was initiated due to the need to supply gas in the north and northeast of the country in the cold seasons and the estimated sharp decline in production in the Mozdouran reservoir by 2025. The MAPNA Group, which is the main contractor of the project, has expressed its commitment to complete the project on time and with high quality standards.
