MAPNA Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD-1) received a provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) for the second gas unit of Rashed Torbat Heydarieh Power Plant on September 15, 2024.
The gas unit of was synchronized to the national grid on May 10, 2024.
The power plant enjoys a capacity of 546 MW, comprising two MAP2B gas turbines, each with a capacity of 183 MW, and a steam turbine rated at 180 MW.
It also has two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), an ACC cooling system, a 400 Kv substation, and a 6.5-kilometer transition line.
With the operation of the gas units of this power plant and considering a consumption pattern of 300 kilowatts for regular customers, more than 790,000 households will benefit from the production capacity of these two units.
The construction of this project was driven by the goal of delivering dependable and consistent electricity to the national grid, with a particular focus on serving the Khorasan Razavi province in northeast Iran. Additionally, it lays the groundwork for potential electricity exports to neighboring nations.
With the addition of this unit, the MD-1 has brought the total number of temporarily delivered units to 154 with a total capacity of 21,102 MW.
The power plant spans an expansive 37 hectares and is situated 12 kilometers northeast of Torbat Heydarieh city. Notably, the plant’s inaugural gas unit was provisionally handed over to the client in February 2023.
