The certificate was issued to MAPNA Combined Cycle Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD-2) on May 26, 2024.
Located in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, 15 kilometers from Chabahar on the Iran–Iranshahr road, the plant previously operated with two gas-fired units. The addition of the steam unit increases the plant’s total efficiency and helps ensure a more stable power supply for the region—particularly as peak summer demand begins.
The project was developed under a turnkey contract by MD-2 and funded by Saba Power and Energy Group. It aimed to support national grid stability, create local jobs, and lay the groundwork for sustainable infrastructure development in one of Iran’s less-developed provinces.
MAPNA Group used its full in-house manufacturing capacity for the project, supplying key components such as the E-Type steam turbine, dual-fuel heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), and an air-cooled condenser (ACC) with concrete foundations.
With the Chabahar unit now in permanent operation, MAPNA MD-2 has delivered a total of 128 power units across Iran, representing a cumulative capacity of 20,008 megawatts.
HSE Achievements
The project also earned high marks for health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance.
It was completed with over 4.75 million person-hours without a fatal accident and achieved a Lost Workday (LWD) rate of 2.4—well below the target of 8 per 100 employees. In 2020, Iran’s Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare awarded MAPNA a certificate of appreciation for its commitment to social responsibility, job preservation, and adherence to COVID-19 health protocols.
