On Saturday, August 30, 2025, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), steel producers, and MAPNA Group’s Oil and Gas Division.
The Halegan and Shahini fields, located in southern Fars Province, hold an estimated 18 trillion cubic feet of gas in place.
Under the agreement, MAPNA Group will participate as an Exploration and Production (E&P) company, playing a key role in advancing the project.
Production from the fields is projected to reach around 35 million cubic meters of natural gas and 25,000 barrels of gas condensates per day.
The project is designed to provide feedstock for steel and mining industries while helping to reduce the country’s natural gas imbalance.
MAPNA Group has been active in the oil and gas sector for more than two decades. The company provides engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services, alongside exploration and production, drilling, and manufacturing of key equipment such as compressors and turbines. It has also implemented several upstream and downstream projects, making it one of the leading Iranian contractors in the sector.
