CONTRACT FOR THE ELECTRIFICATION OF TEHRAN-MASHHAD RAILWAY SIGNED

The contract for the electrification of Tehran-Mashhad railway was signed by the managing director of Mapna Group, managing director of the Railway Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as managing directors of China’s CMC and Supower companies in Tehran on 29th of June 2014.

The contract for the electrification of Tehran-Mashhad railway was signed by the managing director of Mapna Group, managing director of the Railway Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as managing directors of China’s CMC and Supower companies in Tehran on 29th of June 2014.

The 900 km long Tehran-Mashhad railway electrification project is scheduled to be carried out with the partnership of two Iranian and foreign consortiums comprising Mapna Group, Mapna Rail Construction and Development Company, Mapna International, CMC and Supower Companies in 42 months.

Managing director of Mapna Group, Dr. Abbas Aliabadi stated that the contract has been signed under an EPCF scheme and will be financed by the Chinese party.

Dr. Aliabadi further laid emphasis on the significance which is attached to the replacement of traditional railway with modern and electrified railway and which secures higher levels of energy efficiency and speed.
