The additional steam unit at Asaluyeh CCPP can supply electricity to over 345,000 households during off-peak periods. That’s based on an average monthly consumption pattern of 300 kWh per household. The 160 MW steam unit enhances the plant’s efficiency from 32% to 49%. It also boosts the plant’s power generation capacity by 50% without additional fuel consumption. The unit is expected to save approximately 365 million cubic meters of fuel annually.
The steam section of Asaluyeh CCPP has a nominal capacity of 480 MW and comprises three 160 MW steam units. This project is implemented under a buyback contract between MAPNA Asaluyeh Power Generation Company and Thermal Power Plants Holding Company. Under the agreement, investment recovery is based on payments equivalent to the value of fuel savings achieved by the steam units over a period of two years.
The Asaluyeh CCPP consists of six gas turbine units with a nominal capacity of 1,018 MW and three steam units with a nominal capacity of 480 MW. The full commissioning of the steam section will boost the plant’s total capacity to nearly 1,500 MW.
A consortium of MAPNA Group companies, led by MAPNA Power Plants Construction and Development Company (MD-1), is responsible for executing the project. Also, MAPNA Group subsidiaries designed and manufactured the main equipment used in this project.
The completion of this project brings the total number of power plant units synchronized by MD-1 to 168, with a cumulative installed capacity of 22,935 MW.
The Asaluyeh CCPP is located in Bushehr Province. Beyond enhancing grid stability, the synchronization of this unit will create sustainable value for the stakeholders and shareholders of Asaluyeh Power Generation Company in the capital market.
