MAPNA TO HOST CONFERENCE ON THERMAL POWER PLANTS

Tehran, Iran – MAPNA will hold the Six Thermal Power Plants Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Tehran, Iran – MAPNA will hold the Six Thermal Power Plants Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The conference, which will be co-hosted by MAPNA Group and Iran’s University of Science and Technology (IUST) will be the sixth edition of the event and is planned to be held for two days in Tehran, Iran.

“The annual thermal power plant conference aims to bring together the knowledge of universities and the expertise of the industry” said MAPNA CEO Abbas Aliabadi in a press conference on Saturday January 16th. He added that a key feature of the conference’s sixth edition is the focus on the economy of the power industry.

Aliabadi also pointed to Iran’s potential role in bringing welfare and establishing peace and security in the region relying on its capabilities in the power industry. “Having gas resources as the main fuel for power plants and possession of the capability to construct power plant units will enable us to respond to the needs of neighboring countries” he told the media.

Secretary of the conference Alireza Yazdizadeh also spoke to the journalists on the occasion of the event. “The Thermal Power Plant Industry has global credibility. It is indexed by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)” he said. Yazdizadeh, who is also a senior manager of MAPNA Strategic Planning and Control Department, raised the possibility of holding the conference at an international level in the next edition.

Secretary of the Scientific Committee of the Sixth Conference Shahram Jadid also reported on the details of the conference. Jadid, who serves as head of the Electrical Engineering Faculty of IUST, said that two roundtables on “power plant industries’ strategies in the post-sanctions era”, and “power and desalination plants” will be held on the sidelines of the conference. Attendees will be also taken on a tour of MAPNA factories and Parand power plant Jadid said.

The Sixth Conference on Thermal Power Plant industry will be held on 19th and 20th of January 2016 in the Iranian University of Science and Technology.
