The synchronization of the 4th gas unit of Khorramabad CCPP represents a significant step toward completing the gas-fired units of the plant. It also enhances the power generation capacity of Iran during peak seasonal demand. The facility is located about 10 km from Khorramabad city in Lorestan Province. It comprises a combined cycle block including two gas turbines (each 183 MW) and one steam turbine (180 MW). The project also incorporates an Air-Cooled Condenser (ACC) system to improve operational efficiency and reduce water consumption.
Khorramabad Power Generation Company is the client of the project and Moshanir Power Engineering Company is the project consultant and supervisor. This milestone was achieved thanks to the round-the-clock efforts of the dedicated workforce at MAPNA Thermal Power Plants Development Company (MD-2) and by using the full capacity of MAPNA Group factories.
With the synchronization of this latest unit, MD-2 has now brought a total of 129 power units online across the country, contributing a cumulative 20,379 megawatts to Iran’s electricity generation capacity. Khorramabad Combined-Cycle Power Plant serves as a driving force for the social and economic development by creating numerous job opportunities and enhancing local capabilities. In addition, it contributes significantly to the economic growth and prosperity of Lorestan province by providing the energy required for industries.
