MAPNA Drilling Company’s primary mission is to execute engineering, procurement, and drilling (EPD) projects. With ownership of onshore and offshore drilling rigs, access to competitive resources, a skilled workforce, and advanced equipment and machinery, the company is able to plan and carry out drilling, field development, and well intervention work at the highest quality and standards.

Background & Evolution

MAPNA Drilling was formed to carry out onshore and offshore drilling operations and to deliver specialized drilling technical services. Over time, it has expanded its market presence and now holds a significant share in delivering technical drilling services and executing drilling projects for the development of Iran’s oil and gas fields.

The company was founded in October 2009 under the name Kish Noor Middle East Energy Development Company (MEED). In 2014, it was renamed MAPNA Noor Kish Drilling.

Services

As a subsidiary wholly owned by MAPNA Group, MAPNA Drilling provides both technical services and project execution across all phases of drilling: engineering, procurement, and on-site drilling.

The company operates 11 auxiliary drilling service lines, making it one of the country’s leading providers of support services in the drilling sector. It is currently providing valuable drilling technical services with a focus on achieving maximum customer satisfaction across various operational areas involving drilling and well intervention for oil and gas fields in the country. Its offerings include:

Projects

Equipped with one offshore drilling rig and two onshore rigs, MAPNA Drilling has carried out numerous EPDS and knowledge-driven drilling services projects. Some examples include:

• Drilling 14 wells for oil fields such as Jofeir, Marun, Koupal, Sepehr, Mansouri, Danan, and the Azadegan field using the onshore rig “Noor 1.”
• Drilling 13 wells for fields in Ahvaz, Marun, Azadegan, and Mansouri with the onshore rig “Noor 2.”
• Drilling 22 wells in offshore fields including Nosrat, Soroush, Forouzan, Abu Zar, and Doroud with the offshore rig.

Over its 11 years of activity, the company has secured major contracts that are significant to both MAPNA Group and the national oil industry. In 2020 alone, it signed multiple contracts with prominent Iranian oil and gas companies:

• Three contracts with Oil Industries Engineering and Construction Company (OIEC) for three years.
• Two one-year contracts with Pars Energy Drilling & Exploration.
• Three one-year contracts with Dana Energy.
• One one-year contract with Tadbir Petro Energy.

Key Contracts

• A contract to lease an offshore rig for Phase 11 development of the South Pars gas field, drilling and completing 12 wells at the Iran-Qatar border, for Petro Pars under the oversight of Pars Oil and Gas Company, with the aim of increasing sour gas production.
• A contract to drill and complete 11 new wells under the Maintenance & Production Enhancement plan of the Danan oil field, using both owned and rented rigs, for MAPNA Oil & Gas Development (a MAPNA Group company) under supervision of the National Iranian Central Oil Fields Company.
• Lease of the Iranian offshore rig “MAP DRILLER 1” in the Persian Gulf for a project awarded by the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC). The rig was moved from Bandar Abbas and deployed to the Nosrat field (about 90 km southeast of Kish Island) between Iran and UAE.
• Under a contract awarded by Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, MAPNA Drilling Company is responsible for providing coiled tubing unit operations, nitrogen pumping, cementing, and acidizing services for all wells in the Darkhoein oil field. If required by the client, these services may also be extended to other wells located in fields operated by Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, including Azadegan, Yadavaran, Jofeir, Khorramshahr, Arvand, and Susangerd.
• Coring services contract in Phase 1 of South Pars for the National Drilling Company of Iran (NDC).
• Lease of two rigs to the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) in various fields for two years.
• Casing services for the first well in the Nasrabad field via Dana Drilling.
• Multiple casing contracts with companies including Sarvak Drilling, Global Petrotech, National Oil Exploration Operating Company, and Persia Qeshm Oil & Gas Company.
