Semnan Power Plant: MAPNA Receives PAC for 3rd Gas Unit

MAPNA Power Plants Construction & Development Company (MD-1) Company received a provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) for the third gas unit of Semnan Power Plant, also known as the first unit of its second phase, on January 21, 2024.

The latest certificate marked MD-1’s 150th PAC milestone with a total capacity of 20,233 MW.

This unit was synchronized with the national grid in August 2022 at a record-breaking speed

The contract for the second phase of Semnan Power Plant was signed on December 20, 2021, between MAPNA Group and Mines and Metals Development Investment Company (MMDIC), with Saman Semnan Power Generation Company as the client.

The contract is an EPC deal that covers the design, engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of two advanced gas units, each with a nominal capacity of 366 MW at ISO conditions. The units are equipped with MAPNA’s own E-Class MGT-70(3) gas turbines.

The plant is located 10 km from Semnan on the road to Damghan. The first phase of the plant, which consisted of two gas units with a capacity of 162 MW each, was launched in 2009 and synchronized to the grid in 2010 by MD-1.
