MAPNA to Run Homegrown Industrial Control System in Neka Power Plant

MAPNA Group is to launch its homegrown industrial control system, dubbed MAPNA Automation and Process Control System (MAPCS), in Neka Combined Cycle Power Plant, northern Mazandaran Province.

The new control system’s performance has been tested and approved by Neka Power Plant as the project’s client, the Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, a subsidiary of Energy Ministry, as the project’s commissioner, and Moshanir Company.

Once operational, the project marks the first implementation of MAPNA’s industrial control systems in a state-owned power plant.

MAPCS systems are currently operational in several facilities, such as Heidarieh (Najaf) Power Plant in Iraq, one unit at Parand Combined-Cycle Power Plant, three units at Asaluyeh Combined-Cycle Power Plant, three units at Tous Combined-Cycle Power Plant, and two units at West Karun Gas Power Plant).

The Group is also planning to run the advanced system in Tehran’s Be’sat power plant and Tabas coal-fired power plant.

MAPCS is an advanced FCS/DCS system, designed and developed by MAPNA Electric & Control Engineering & Manufacturing Company (MECO) in line with the plans to efficiently manage electronic operations in industrial environments. It has obtained over 350 domestic and 50 international licenses and standards, including

MECO is currently delivering two MAPCS versions: Factory Automation and Process Control. Factory Automation describes the process of incorporating automation into the manufacturing process from the beginning to the end products. The large number of processors in charge of controlling the industrial processes as well as the presence of operational manpower involved in this process, adds a layer of complexity to the operation. For instance, a total of 42 processors and communication ports process over 5,000 transmitted signals at a MAPNA Group power plant. These processors are responsible for collecting and processing the transmitted signals in order to keep the power plant going.
