A host of top officials from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) paid a visit to MAPNA Locomotive Engineering and Manufacturing Company on October 1, 2023.
The guests included Mohammadreza Movassaqinia, chairman of the board of IMIDRO, and CEOs of several IMIDRO subsidiary companies including Mobarakeh Steel Company, National Iranian Steel Company, Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company, and Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company.
During their visit, they had the opportunity to closely observe the process of producing various types of equipment and railway vehicles.
The guests were taken to different sections of the factory such as the chassis and locomotive body manufacturing workshop, the instrumentation laboratory, the final assembly hall, and the overhaul workshop, getting acquainted with various locomotives produced by the company.
In the joint meeting, discussions revolved around issues of mutual interest, including ways to expand cooperation.
Detailed reports of MAPNA Group’s negotiations with IMIDRO’s subsidiary companies, including 20 power plant projects, were also shared during the meeting.
Movassaqinia emphasized the role of rail transportation, noting that it is necessary to improve rail transportation in Iran.
“Given its capacities, MAPNA Group can facilitate the growth in this industrial field,” he said.
MAPNA’s Readiness
For his part, MAPNA President Mohammad Owliya discussed the strategic plans of the company, which included the creation of a new transportation sector titled MAPNA Mobility that combines rail transportation, electrification, and batteries.
He stressed that MAPNA Group is fully prepared to participate in various projects, including power plants and transportation while maintaining high quality and competitiveness.
Trust in MAPNA’s Capabilities
Mohammad Yaser Tayebnia, CEO of Esfahan’s Mobarakeh Steel Company, also addressed the meeting, pointing to the successful cooperation between his company and MAPNA Group.
He mentioned the construction of the F-Class power plant and the ongoing development of a 600 MW solar power plant with the cooperation of the conglomerate. He expressed trust in MAPNA’s capabilities and readiness for further cooperation given the expansion of Mobarakeh Steel’s activities.
IMIDRO is a major state-owned holding company that oversees the mining sector in Iran. It has eight main companies and 55 subsidiaries that are active in various fields of mining, such as steel, aluminum, copper, cement, and minerals. The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development & Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) was established and officially registered on 2001 in execution of Article 6 of the Law on centralization of industrial & mining activities and for the purpose of evaluating and determining the overall strategies and policies of this area, executing the projects relating to the construction and the renovation of metal related industries, extraction and processing of mineral products as well as executing exploration projects.
